VSP Flagship by Han Tümertekin

My trusty guide informs me that the historical district of Le Marais is the closest we can get to experiencing medieval Paris. Sadly, instead of knights and nobility, its winding alleys and pre-Revolutionary buildings are filled with artists and hipsters who lend a more contemporary flavour to the cobblestoned streets. It was this dichotomy that Han Tümertekin explored in his concept for the two floors of VSP’s new Parisian flagship.

The juxtaposition of stainless steel and concrete is more than a reflection of the mores of Le Marais; it is also a tribute to VSP’s proud tradition of marrying timeless artisanal techniques with high technology. Just as with the brand’s luxury leather products, rough edges – in this case, raw concrete walls – are gently rounded off with circular edges of steelwork to humanize the space.
Outside, a large glass entrance connects the neighbourhood to the boutique in a union cemented by the presence of a spiral steel staircase that links the entrance level to the floor above.
