Diptyque London by Christopher Jenner
The New-Old Design
A Victorian space in London has been renovated to look old and new simultaneously.
The small shop is home to Diptyque – a luxury French parfumier – and is located inside London’s Leadenhall Market, well known for its Victorian architecture.
‘The space has been designed to complement rather than impose, incorporating the patterning and detail of classic Victorian design,’ says London-based designer Christopher Jenner.
Despite being just 11-sq-m, the ceiling rise 4m high to create an airy impression. Oversized library cabinets – accessible by ladder – maximize the space’s height, while their exteriors boast a modern interpretation of a Victorian pattern. Jenner has also added bespoke wallpaper, liquid metal story boards and floral marquetry to infuse the space with an aesthetic that’s best described as new, but old.
