Keeping pace with its rapid expansion stateside is Aesop's relentless drive to make each of its new stores a unique retail statement, and consequently, a clever and effective marketing tool as well. The Australian cosmetics brand first opened up shop in the u.s. only two years ago, and now operates a string of stores on both the east and west coast. Already well represented in Manhattan, Aesop has recently added yet another signature store in Chelsea. This interior of this one is an interesting collab between Aesop founder Dennis Paphitis and the Paris review, one of his fav reads of many years.
Paphitis and editor Lorin Stein put the decorative emphasis clearly on the shop's ceiling which is a wild mosaic, made up of around 1,000 original editions of the renowned literary periodical. And the visual litfest doesn't stop there as the walls are clad with an eclectic collection of the Paris review memorabilia, mostly letters and photos. Featured as part of the decor are Aesop's fav back issues of the magazine and its current issue. Rows of black wooden shelves line the walls while opposite a salvaged antique sink is installed. the new Aesop store carries the brand's full range of skin, body and hair care products.
